The Military Engineering Faculty ( CME ) is the main technical and tactical training institute of the Indian Army Engineers Army Corps of Engineers, these include Combat Engineers, Military Engineering Service, Organization and Road Surveys Border.
The college is located in Dapodi in NH 4, adjacent to the Khadki region, a large military base in the Pune district, north of Pune. Founded in 1943, as a 'Military Engineering School' (UKM) at Roorkee, in addition to training Indian army officers and people from friendly countries, the college also plays an advisory role for the Indian Army, research projects and experiments.

History
Prior to its establishment, the Engineer Corps officers were trained at the Royal School of Military Engineering, United Kingdom along with the Corps of Royal Engineers. Between 1934 and 1943 they received training at Thompson College of Engineering, Roorkee, now IIT Roorkee.
During World War II, a special school to provide combat engineering training to officers was established at Roorkee, the School of Military Engineering (SME) in 1943, despite continuing to rely on Thomason College for technical training, after which post-independence in 1948, SME moved to Dapodi in Pune, its location now. In November 1951, SME was upgraded to college, with an engineering degree recognized by the Institution of Engineers.
Permanent construction work began in 1948 and most accommodation was completed in 1958. The second phase of expansion took place after 1963 which was demanded by the expansion of the Indian Army.

Course
CME offers training for personnel, both Officers and Personnel Below Officers Rank (PBOR) from Corps of Engineers, other weapons & amp; services, Navy, Air Force, Para-Military, Police and also civilians. His students also include soldiers from friendly foreign countries such as the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. The college is affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for B Tech and M Tech degrees. And graduates and post-graduate programs are recognized by The 'All India Council for Technical Education' (AICTE) and the University of Pune.

Campus
Today, the campus is located on the banks of the Mula River, spread over 3,600 hectares (15 km 2 ) and with a population of 11,000, and evolved into a small town. Access is only available to military personnel and civilians working or living in CME. Pass the gate (identification) required to enter CME spot.
