Animated snippets are a stop-motion animation form using flat characters, props and backgrounds that are cut from materials such as paper, cards, rigid or even photos. The earliest animated films known in the world are cut animations (made in Argentina by Quirino Cristiani), like the earliest animated feature in the world.
Currently, style-style animations are often produced using computers, with scanned images or vector graphics that take the place of physically cutting material. South Park is an important example of the transition since its pilot episode was made with scrap paper before switching to computer software.
The more complex figures depicted in cut animations, such as in silhouette animations, often have connections made with rivets or pins or, when they are made on a computer, an anchor. This connection acts as a mechanical connection, which has the effect of a fixed fixed motion.
Other notable examples include Blue Blue Clues, Angela Anaconda and, more recently, Charlie and Lola. One of the most famous animators who still use traditional pieces of animation today is Yuri Norstein.
