Everett Community College (EvCC) is a community college in Everett, Washington, in the Seattle metropolitan area. EvCC educates over 19,000 students annually in locations across Snohomish County, Washington with most of the students and faculty on the main campus in Everett.

Histori

Everett Junior College (EJC) was founded in 1941, with college freshmen taking classes in converted primary schools. In 1957, construction began on a new college campus just north of Everett. The campus, which originally included seven buildings, opened in 1958.

The name of the college changed to Everett Community College in 1967 to conform to the Washington State Community Act.

Campus

Everett Community College north of Everett Campus is located at 2000 Tower St. at Everett on 46 acres near the Legion Memorial Park Golf Course. The campus includes 20 buildings, many of which are named after the summit of the Cascade and Olympic mountains.

In the last 10 years, EvCC has completed more than $ 150 million in new development:

  • 2007: Whitehorse Hall opens. The 88,000-square-foot building (8,200 m 2 ) is a place for physics, visual arts, and college journalism programs.
  • 2009: Gray Wolf Hall opens. The 77,000-square-foot building has a humanities, social sciences, and EvCC communication program.
  • 2011: The Walt's Student Fitness Center is open. The 49,000-square-foot building (4,600m 2 ) replaced the gym in 1958. By 2015, the EvCC named the building in honor of former athletic director and trainer Walt Price.
  • 2013: Liberty Hall opens. This 72,000 square foot three storey building is located north of Broadway next to the campus fitness center. It is home to nursing programs, medical assistance and college phlebotomy and other health science training, plus criminal justice, fire science, and EMT programs from EvCC.
  • 2014: Advanced Manufacturing Training & amp; Education Center (AMTEC) is open. AMTEC educates students in six courses - mechatronics, precision machining, welding and fabrication, engineering technicians, composites and pre-work. The center teaches students about the manufacturing process from start to finish as they complete interdisciplinary projects such as creating unmanned aerial vehicles, rockets, robots and rowboards. AMTEC expanded by 2015, adding 17,000 square feet to make the center an area of ​​54,000 square feet.
  • 2016: Mountain View Hall opens. The university student housing building has 120 private rooms with its own bathroom and shared kitchen space. All units in both buildings are fully equipped. Rent includes all utilities and wireless internet. Mountain View was built by the Snohomish-based real estate developer, Koz Development, Inc.
  • 2017: Cedar Hall opens. The second student residential building on campus includes 132 beds in a furnished studio, three bedrooms, and a four-bedroom apartment with living room and kitchen. Rent includes all utilities and wireless internet.

In addition to the college's main campus north of Everett, EvCC offers classes at the East County College Campus in Monroe, the Aviation Maintenance Engineering School at Paine Field, Corporate & amp; Continuing Education Centers south of Everett, School of Cosmetology at Marysville, and at several other locations in the north and east region of Snohomish County.

Organization and administration

EvCC is one of 34 community and technical colleges administered by the Washington State Council's Community and Technical College. The college is run by a five-member supervisory board appointed by the Washington state governor. President of EvCC is Dr. David Beyer.

Academic profile

In 2016-17 college educated 19,673 students. The range of EvCC students at the age of 12-85 with the largest number of students between 18-21 years.

Students come to the EVCC to begin their four-year degree, acquire a certificate, train for a new job, gain hands-on training in professional and technical programs, learn English, develop basic skills, complete high school, train for promotion, or to study just for fun -happy.

The campus offers more than 90 different departments and programs. EvCC also offers professional development and career training options through Corporate & amp; Center for Continuing Education. Courses can be customized and delivered on-site throughout Snohomish County and Northwest.

The campus is home to the Everett University Center, which offers master's and undergraduate degrees. The center is managed by Washington State University Everett. The center offers programs from WSU, Western Washington University, University of Washington Bothell, University of East Washington, Central Washington University, and The Evergreen State College.

In addition to traditional classroom courses, EvCC offers courses that can be taken online through the CANVAS learning platform.

Athletics

Everett Community College has 11 athletic teams including baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, cross country, track and field, and volleyball. All teams use red and white school colors. The college mascot, Trojan, was chosen by students in 1941. The Everett Community College team competed in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC).
