Nathan Wyburn (born 1989) is an artist and Welsh media personality who has created portraits of celebrities and pop culture images using non-traditional media such as groceries and other household items, especially working with Marmite on toast bread.

Biography
Initial years
Wyburn is from Ebbw Vale, South Wales and studied Arts at GCSE and A-level. After leaving school, he took the Arts degree at Cardiff School of Art & amp; Design.
He became an internet star in 2010, when he posted a YouTube video about himself creating a portrait of TV personality Simon Cowell, made using Marmite on toast. In addition to other time lapse videos, Wyburn has gained more than 10 million video views. She appeared on the BBC children's TV program, Blue Peter. She later appeared on other TV shows, including ITV News and Sky Sports, where she portrayed English football manager Fabio Capello using bolognese sauce and pasta. He received messages of support from celebrities including singer Katherine Jenkins and pop star Justin Bieber.
Britain's Got Talent
In 2011 Wyburn emerged as a contestant on TV talent show Britain's Got Talent, where he made a portrait judge Michael McIntyre again using Marmite to toast. He reached the semi-finals where he tried to photograph the portraits of Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley, but failed to meet expectations, with the jury telling him that he had taken too much in the short time available. This also led to the emergence of other televisions such as Daybreak and Lorraine. He then decided to make a picture of Queen Elizabeth II, because she lost the prize to meet her.
In 2012, at the peak of the International News phone hacking scandal, Wyburn's portrait of Rupert Murdoch, made from 5,000 alleged phone hacking victims, appears on the front page of The Guardian. Wyburn's work was also recognized as part of the 2012 London Olympics under Education Relays when he held a disposable art exhibition, featuring the British Olympics at Bournemouth Arts College and cited "Amazing" by Diver Tom Daley. In 2013 he entered the equivalent talent contest with Austria, Die groÃÆ'à ¸e Chance, ending in the last fifteen years and earning praise from the winner of Eurovision Conchita Wurst after making his photo using glitter. Other international projects for Wyburn include creating the art of toothpaste at '15th International Dental Congress' in Istanbul and a 10-day assignment in a glass container built in central Helsinki, where he created more than 50 portraits of Felix Ketchup fans using the product, increasing sales by 18%. Wyburn continues to have appearances on TV including appearances in the Spanish version Do not Stop Me Now and as Sky Portrait Artist of the Year .
Shortly after Margaret Thatcher's death, Wyburn created his own portrait using coal. He said:
I've created a portrait of Baroness Margaret Thatcher, using crushed coal powder & amp; solid coal. Whether you love or hate him, his actions towards the mining industry are one of the most famous and controversial legacies that even today share the opinion of a nation.
The artwork won the first prize in a national open art competition titled Britain's Got Artists tried by George Galloway.
Commercial Commission
Brands like Marmite, Bic, Famous Company, Oral-B, Costa, Starbucks, Morrisons and Hovis have independently commissioned Wyburn. Wyburn's work has received praise from a number of celebrity admirers including Perez Hilton, Stephen Fry, Ruby Rose, Tyler Oakley, Joanna Lumley, Keith Lemon, and Alan Carr.
From 1 August to 21 September 2014, Wyburn is on display at the Cardiff Story Museum. Previous exhibits include the Barnabas Arts House and Queens Arcade, Cardiff.
In May 2015, Wyburn made a portrait of Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, the princely princess of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, using 1,000 babies. In May 2015 he also made Wales rugby international portrait of Adam Jones using mud.
For Father's Day 2015, Wyburn teamed up with Morrison's supermarket to create a pizza featuring five notable dads: David Beckham, Tom Fletcher, Gary Barlow Simon Cowell, and Marvin Humes. Other famous works by Wyburn include Miley Cyrus which is painted entirely with his tongue, David Beckham painted with his feet, Jesus Christ using chocolate and Lady Gaga using Coca-Cola.
Wyburn has pinpointed his success on his self-acclaimed "Warhol as an obsession" with pop culture and celebrity ideas. His greatest artistic influences are Andy Warhol, Chuck Close, and Vik Muniz. In a September 2015 interview with the BBC, Wyburn said of his own work: "This is the current flow of current affairs and current for pop culture I do not see why it should not be shown in the gallery, in Tate Gallery or National Gallery" adding " I'm trying to be taken seriously It would be nice to get that kind of confession. "He recently learned that he will be taught as part of the GCSE art curriculum in Wales and he describes the possibility of himself being mentioned in the same lesson as his hero Andy Warhol as" -blowing ". Wyburn has also been included on the website for Ripley's Believe It or Not! .
Wyburn is also known for Facebook viral videos such as Eminem made with spaghetti that receives over 15 million views, after being posted by LADBible and Ruby Rose sharing artwork created using pizza.
Recent work
In November 2015 his book Not That Kind of Art , featured 80 of his works, published by Candy Jar. In December 2015, Wyburn made portraits of Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt, from the Status Quo rock group, outside the matchstick, inspired by their 1969 "Pictures of Matchstick Men" song. He also made a Star Wars character image of food products, including the main character Rey (Daisy Ridley) made of tomato puree and Finn (John Boyega) made of tikka paste.
Wyburn was once again receiving attention in social media in January 2016 after making a viral video of an 8 ft portrait of Justin Bieber completely with lipstick, by kissing the canvas. In March 2016, Wyburn gave a lecture and baked toast on TED (conference) with Procter & amp; Gamble in Geneva, Switzerland. To celebrate the 40th year of The Prince's Trust, Wyburn collaborated with a charity to create a portrait of his ambassador Paloma Faith using thousands of images of people involved with trust. The portrait is then projected onto several notable buildings in England, including Liverpool's Royal Liver Building and City Hall in London, Glasgow and Cardiff. A similar portrait of HRH Prince Charles was also commissioned and presented to him at Buckingham Palace by Dame Joan Collins. July 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the Spice Girls, to celebrate this Wyburn make portraits of 5 members Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel B, Melanie C & Geri Halliwell uses media inspired by their personalities including Caviar, Baby Powder & amp; Ground Ginger Spice. Melanie C then received a picture from Wyburn and branded it "Absolutely Amazing!"
In August 2016, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the science museum of Techniquest, Wyburn created a portrait of scientist Albert Einstein using thousands of Smarties. He also painted portraits of actor Gene Wilder, using chocolate, as a tribute to the late comic actor. To raise awareness of World AIDS Day on December 1, 2016, Wyburn created a portrait of sparkling red singers & amp; Queen's icon, Freddie Mercury, who died of illness in 1991.
Throughout March and April 2017, the Welsh S4C language channel, aired 7 successive art segments featuring 7 unique artworks created by Wyburn. These include Gareth Bale paintings with his feet, Sam Warburton with mud, Zoella with glitter and Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow made using sand and seaweed on the shores of Barry Island.
In May 2017, Wyburn created a celebration image from Skepta for the British music company, The Famous Company, using unmarked artist images from around the world.
Wyburn received more national television coverage in July 2017 when he appeared at the ITV magazine show This Morning . She was interviewed by presenter Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who were given artwork created using lipstick with a kiss from her lips. Wyburn celebrity admirers continue to grow as he presents his work to the likes of Jennifer Saunders, TOWIE stars Gemma Collins, Steps and Taylor Momsen.
In November 2017, Wyburn painted a picture of Jesus using sausage and tomato sauce rolls, in response to an advertisement for Greggs showing a sausage roll instead of a holy baby in their advent calendar.
On New Year's Eve 2017, ITV aired a panel show hosted by Fern Britton titled "A Right Royal Quiz" featuring a cameo appearance from Wyburn, featuring several portraits of his kingdom including the new artwork The Queen uses pizza. This was soon followed by a highly successful advertising campaign by Dr Beckmann, a cleaning product company that commissioned artists to use award-winning carpet blemishes, to draw a 20 foot (6.1 m) image of the recently engaged Prince Harry and Meghan. Mark by removing stains from dirty carpets.
In March 2018 Wyburn created a picture of Mona Lisa in the snow at Roath Park in Cardiff, along with portraits of Jon Snow & Idina Menzel is featured as a global 'moment' of Twitter. In April 2018 Wyburn performed live at the weekend of Wales Comic Con where he made several portraits of special guests, including actor Andrew Scott.

Personal life
Wyburn is a gay and an ambassador for the anti-bullying charity, Bullies Out. He is also a supporting partner of Pride Cymru who acts as their Youth Ambassador. When asked, in a 2014 interview with eqview.com, did he see the LGBT perspective as playing an important role/whatever in his art, he replied: "I see it play a big role in my life in general I do not I think I'll be half-minded strong or determined if I do not have to go through my adolescence to face the difficulty of what I do - bullying etc. I feel quite proud to create works that support the LGBT community such as Obama painting the flag of pride - and standing on stage at Pride shows and showing to the people that it's getting better. "In 2012 Wyburn creates a portrait of the newly re-elected President Barack Obama, painted on the pride of the rainbow flag, inspired by Obama's support for same-sex marriage.
In October 2015, Wyburn took part in the 12-hour Stand Up To Cancer show on YouTube, making YouTube's favorite coffee portraits, Joe Sugg and Caspar Lee. The day raised more than Ã, à £ 120,000. Following the success of the first series, in May 2016 Wyburn became a model for photographer Thomas Knights, as part of his Red Hot 2 campaign. This exhibition and book aims to celebrate and change the image of red head stereotype.
In August 2016 it was revealed that Wyburn was placed at number 10 in "The Pinc List 2016", a list of 40 most influential LGBT people in Wales.
