Premlata Agrawal (b. 1963) was the first Indian woman to scale the Seven Peaks, the seven highest continents of the world. He was awarded Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2013 and Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award in 2017 for his achievements in the field of Mountaineering. On May 20, 2011, he became the oldest Indian woman to have climbed the world's highest peak, Mount Everest (29,029 feet), at the age of 48 at the time while Sangeeta Sindhi Bahl from Jammu and Kashmir broke her record on May 19, 2018 and became the oldest Indian woman to scale Mount Everest who did so at the age of 53. He also became the first person from Jharkhand state to climb Mount Everest.
Prior to this, he took part in the Island Peak Expedition in Nepal (20,600 feet) in 2004; Karakoram Pass (18,300 feet) and Mt. Saltoro Kangri (20.150Ã, ft) in 2006. He participated in the First Thar Desert Indian Expedition of 2007 and again in 2015; camel safari 40 days from Bhuj in Gujarat to the Wagah Border (Indo-Pak border) in Punjab. Her achievements have made her enrolled in the Limca Book of Records.

Careers
He started climbing the mountain at the age of 36, after taking part in a hill climbing competition in Jamshedpur. Soon he found his passion for climbing. Furthermore, he was trained and guided by Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest in 1984.
He is currently working with Tata Steel as an officer in their adventure section.

He is part of the 22-member eco-everest expedition team, the Indian contingent also includes Sunita Singh, Narendar Singh, Pawan Grewal, Sushma and Vikas Kaushik, as well as climbers Rodrigo Raineri of Brazil and David Liano from Mexico. He spent more than a month climbing around Everest Base Camp to adjust, as well as doing climbing exercises at the 20,300 foot High Island Peak in the Himalayas. He started the main climb on May 6 as he climbed from Everest base camp at an altitude of 18,000 feet to Camp 2 at 22,000 feet. However, then he uses additional oxygen, and reaches Camp 3 at 23,000 feet and Camp 4 at 26,000 feet. The multinational climbing team led by Dawa Steven Sherpa made an overnight trip to climb the summit. They started at 11 pm from South Col (Camp 4 on 26,000 ft) route from the Nepalese side and touched the peak at 9.35am on May 20, 2011, which was 29,029 feet high. An hour before he reached the summit he lost a glove, and decided to return because it was impossible to climb that high without gloves, then he saw a pair of gloves lying in the snow, left by someone.
Personal life
He is a native of Darjeeling, west of Bengal, his father Ramawtar Garg is an entrepreneur. He currently works with Tata Steel as an officer and lives in the city of Jugsalai, Jamshedpur in the district of East Singhbhum in the state. She is married to Vimal Agarwal, a senior journalist. The couple has two daughters, one of whom is married.
