Hatmaking or women's hats is the design, manufacture and sale of hats and head-wear. Someone involved in this trade is called milliner or hatter .

Volume is sold to women, men and children, although some definitions limit the term for women's hats. Historically, grinders, usually female shopkeepers, produce or import garment inventories for men, women, and children, including hats, shirts, robes, shifts, hats, neckerchiefs, and underwear, and sell these clothes in clothing stores their summer.

Recently, the term has evolved to describe someone who designs, makes, sells or trims hats especially for female clients.

The origin of this term is probably the Middle East , which means the city of Milan or the person who deals with the goods of Milan, known for his fashion and dress.

This link, with reference to the newspaper issue of the 1880s, is described as an ornament on fashionable hats, bird feathers, and stuffed birds and other small animals, and fruits, flowers, ribbons and lace. He said that in 1889 in London and Paris, over 8,000 women were employed in factories, and by 1900 in New York, about 83,000 people, mostly women. It also depicts the fashion for the cat's head doll as a hat ornament in or around 1883 in Paris (France), often seen out from between foliage and feathers, to the point where some people reportedly breed kittens for hat trades.
