The School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada ( SPA Vijayawada ) is a higher education institution in Vijayawada, India, specializing in education and research in urban planning and architecture. This is one of three Schools of Planning and Architecture (SPA) established by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India in 2008 as an autonomous institution and a fully funded Technical Institute (CFTI). This is part of the league along with two other SPAs: Bhopal SPA and Delhi SPA.

Histori

The root of this institute with a report made by the City Planning Institute, India (ITPI), at the request of the Ministry of Human Resources Development on the establishment of more SPA, in addition to the Delhi SPA, was established in 1959. Based on this report, a decision was made to build two schools , in Bhopal and Vijayawada. On 7 July 2008, SPA Vijayawada was established as a Centralally Funded Technical Institution (CFTI). In 2014, Lok Sabha issued a bill to make all three SPA "center of excellence" on IIT and IIM patterns, now a national college.

Campus

Initially, the school was operated from a temporary campus at Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur until 2011, before moving to its current campus. In 2011, the foundation stone of the Vijayawada campus was founded by Daggubati Purandeswari, State Minister for Human Resource Development. The campus is located in Nidamanuru, on National Highway 5, close to Vijayawada Airport (12.4 km away). Expansion plans include building more hostels to accommodate the growing number of graduate students, sophisticated sports complexes and residences for doctoral students.

The Andhra Pradesh government is in the process of allocating nearly 60 hectares of land, scattered in two locations in and around Vijayawada, for school development. From this, the first 7.2 hectares were submitted on February 22, 2010. In January 2012, the design for the new campus was adopted as part of the competition throughout India and it was proposed to develop it as an environmentally friendly campus with the state. facilities-of-the-art. School is being run under the supervision and guidance of the board of governors. Reception

Admission to the undergraduate program is through the Joint Entry Examination (JEE) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, India. Foreign nationals, non-resident Indians (NRI) and Indian origin (PIO) candidates are eligible to apply and must have qualifications from a foreign board/university recognized as equivalent to the University of India Association (AIU) to shortlist for more further evaluation.

Student life

The campus starts with two hostels. Since the intake has increased gradually, today the school has four hostels. For the first three-year students, separate hostels have been established that can accommodate nearly 200 - proof of the future for a substantial increase in planned intake.
