AHCMC was founded on an area of ​​approximately 5 hectares in Kanthaltali in Madhabkhali Union under the Patukhali district. The founder of this lecture is Air vice-marshal Altaf Hossain Chowdhury. Akhtar was his son who died unexpectedly and suddenly. So he named this college as his son's name.

Campus
This campus is in the suburbs and the natural beauty of this campus is very charming. The construction style of this campus building is a form of Taj Mahal (India). There is a separate boy and girl dormitory and a healthy eating system for them. There is a lake that covers a third of the college and beside the lake, many flowers and fruit are planted. This college has been awarded several times for its natural beauty. There is a rare collection of trees as well and enhances the beauty of the campus.
Education
This college education system is very supportive and free from politics. Teachers are available for students' needs and there are also teacher dormitories. AHCMC provides higher secondary and BA (degree) degrees in middle Bangla under the national curriculum. This college follows the national curriculum. Students may choose one of three major groups - science, humanities and business studies. Computer science, agriculture, and home economics are the subjects of choice for high school students.
Library
The college has a rich library containing 5000 volumes. Four books are checked at a time for seven days. The library is open during and after (5:00 pm) academic hours.
Uniform
All students wear college uniforms during college time.

Girls - for black girls salower, black scarf and kamiz sky color with sky belt. The girls also put a sky color jacket in the Winter.
Curricular and Extra Curricular Co. Activities
There are several clubs where co-curricular activities are held. Sports clubs, art clubs and social welfare clubs. AHCMC provides internet-connected computer labs to its students. There are college magazines as well. Each year students from these colleges have participated in 'Inter division debate competitions' and several times they become champions. The college organizes an annual function on 21 February to observe International Mother Language Day. It also holds the program on the occasion of Pohela Boishakh, Victory Day and Independence Day (Bangladesh).
