North Country Community College is a two-year campus from New York State University located in Upstate New York. Founded in 1967, the main campus is in Saranac Lake, New York, and serves Franklin and Essex County; registration is about 1500 students. It employs 143 permanent faculty and an additional 300. North Country is the only state college located within the Adirondack Park. The College, located in the Northern Territory of the State of New York, has additional locations in Malone and Ticonderoga. In August 2010, North Country Community College was ranked Best Community College in New York and 22 of the Best Community Colleges in the United States by the Washington Monthly . Academics

Colleges provide courses in Liberal Arts and Sciences as well as in the fields of the Health, Business, Technical, and Vocational Allies. The most popular majors in North Country include Sports & amp; Event Management, Business, Liberal Arts, Nursing, Radiology Technology, Computer Graphics & amp; Design, Massage Therapy, and Leadership of Desert Recreation. Many transfer degrees and other professionals are offered.

Athletics

Athletic colleges including Men & amp; Women's basketball, soccer, and women's balls. North Country Athletics has won over 10 NJCAA National Championships in various sports.

Starting in 2015, the NCCC will add athletic programs in women's volleyball and lacrosse Women.

North Country offers a variety of student activities centered around close to Lake Placid, Whiteface Mountain, located in Wilmington and the Olympic and Ski Jumps Center located on Lake Placid. Hundreds of miles of hiking trails, lakes and rivers provide excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation nearby.

North Country Community College is the Official College of the 1980 Winter Olympics held in Lake Placid, New York and maintains a working relationship with Lake Placid - the US Olympic Training Center located ten miles from the campus. James Olympic Gold Medalist "Jimmy" Shea, 2002 is an alumnus.
