Work

On the Balcony (1955-57) is a significant early work that remains an icon of British Pop Art, showing Blake's interest in combining images of pop culture with fine arts. The work, which looks like a collage but is painted entirely, shows, inter alia, a boy on the left of the composition holding ÃÆ' â € ° douard Manet's The Balcony , badges and magazines. It was inspired by paintings by HonorÃÆ'Â © Sharrer who described workers holding famous paintings, Workers and Paintings. At the "Pop Art in Changing Britain" exhibition and as reported by The Telegraph on February 21, 2018, girl with their hero, "the 1959 painting of Elvis Presley is said to have" shaped a very personal Pop Art form, nostalgic impregnated for Victoriana and the long lost entertainment world. Blake painted some album sleeves. He designed a sleeve for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band with his wife Jann Haworth, the American-born artist he married in 1963 and divorced in 1979. The Sgt. Pepper's sleeve has become an iconic, much imitated pop artwork and Blake's most famous work. Producing collages requires the construction of a set with photos and cropped objects, such as flowers, centered on drums (sold in auctions in 2008) with album titles. Blake then complains about the one-time fee he receives for the design (£ 200), without any subsequent royalties. Blake makes arms for Band Aid's single, "Do They Know It's Christmas?"
