Krista Franklin is an African-American visual artist and poet, whose primary artistic focus is collage. His work, which addresses issues of race, gender, and class, combines personal image, pop culture, and history.

Early life and education
Franklin is from Dayton, Ohio. He received his BA from Kent State University, and his MFA at Interdisciplinary Book & amp; Paper Arts from Columbia College Chicago where, in 2013, he wrote his thesis titled The Two Thousand & amp; Thirteen Narratives from Naima Brown that revives a girl who is changing on a young adult cliff and has received recognition for his work from such prestigious programs as the Art Incubator at the University of Chicago. He is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, where in 2007 he was a Chicago Artist Assistance Program grantee for his SEED (The Book of Eve) booklet, which he said was based on the dystopic vision of the African- American award-winning Octavia E. Art
Franklin's artwork covers themes of surrealism and visions of utopian and dystopia, with subtext of black beauty, self-reflection, and African Diaspora. He described his approach as Afro-Futuris and Afro-Surrealist. He has stated, "Inspiration is a myth created to give romantic baits to artists and art, the art of thinking and working."
His artwork has been featured on the television series Empire. Collagen has also been used on the covers of several collections of poetry, including John Murillo's Up Jumps the Boogie (2010) and Lita Hooper Thunder in Her Voice (2010). He has also published his work on American Studies , Callaloo , and Ecotone .
Regarding his talent in the art of collage, Franklin said, "I learned the art of collage through watching my family make something out of nothing," he said, "That's exactly where my collage aesthetic comes from. something beautiful from the rest. "In one of the series exploring race and gender, especially in a strange context, he uses human hair as the main ingredient.
Poems
The Franklin paper was influenced by the poets of the Black Art Movement, including Nikki Giovanni and Sonia Sanchez.
His poems are included in the anthologies of The Bust Guide to New Girl Order (Penguin Books, 1999) and Bum Rush the Page: A Def Poetry Hour (Penguin Books, 2001). He has published his poem on Black Camera . In 2011, he was a major player and also a celebrity judge at Gypsy Poetry Slam held in Lexington, Kentucky.
