Careers

Anderson was a product tester and copywriter at XDrive, a digital storage company in 2000, where he first met DeWolfe. He initially joined XDrive as a product tester after answering a flyer ad, while still in film school and looking to earn extra money. After XDrive went bankrupt in 2001, he and DeWolfe set up a direct marketing company ResponseBase. They sold ResponseBase to eUniverse Brad Greenspan in late 2002.

With other eUniverse employees, Anderson set up Myspace's first page in August 2003. He founded the site in part in reaction to Friendster, and his policy blocked accounts that did not use real names. Media Intermix was later founded as the successor of eUniverse, and it was under Intermix that Myspace garnered a renowned popularity level. When Intermix Media and Myspace were sold to News Corp, Anderson became president of the company.

Myspace was sold to News Corp in 2005 for $ 580 million. After the acquisition of News Corp., Anderson said: "Before [the acquisition], I can do whatever I want It now takes more time to get people to agree on things. All reviews and the budget process It can be troublesome. stop us. "Reuters quoted an unnamed News Corp executive:" Tom [Anderson] is responsible for the product but ultimately a total hindrance to things. " Anderson was replaced as president in April 2009 by News Corp; in 2010, he was no longer a default friend on Myspace and was replaced by a profile named "Today On MySpace," or "T.O.M."

At the end of May 2012, Anderson announced that he would join RocketFrog Interactive as an adviser to 16-person, Los Angeles, US-based company, who created the Facebook app. However, in an interview September 2014, Anderson did not mention the role of adviser in his life at the time, while his Twitter description in October 2014 reads: "Enjoying retirement." He explained in an interview that he was not interested in going back to his previous call, but concluded: "I will never say never because, more than anything, I like the idea that anything can happen.I do not know exactly where I live Adventure and the unknown always appeal to me.
