Jeanne Birdsall (born 1951) is the author of an American children's book. He is known primarily for the "Penderwick sisters", whose third chronicle was published in 2011. The first, which is his debut novel, won the 2005 National Book Award for Youth Literature.

Birdsall was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in the suburbs. She decided to become a writer at the age of ten - but she did not start until she was 41 years old. He works first in other jobs, primarily as a photographer, and some of his works have been displayed in galleries all over the world.. She maintains several pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, and snails.
In 2005, Birdsall lived in a "old and comfortable, full of unruly animals, and surrounded by gardens" in Northampton, Massachusetts.

The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Fascinating Boy introduced the Penderwick Sisters and won the National Book Award. Her second book is a sequel, The Penderwicks at Gardam Street (2008). His third book, Penderwicks at Point Mouette, is his third book in the series. The fourth is The Penderwicks in Spring (2015). He planned a series of five.
Birdsall's first illustrated book, The Very Windy Day at Flora , illustrated by Matt Phelan and published under the Clarion Books book in August 2010. The third Penderwicks novel, The Penderwicks at Point Mouette , released by Knopf on May 10, 2011.
